I gave myself a full month to explore Malawi. I somehow felt like there was going to be something really special to discover here. I was wrong; there were many, many things that were incredibly special.
This video covers the first half of the time I shared with Malawi, its shimmering lake and equally shining people. It took me from hilly, congested Blantyre, to rural Likhubura and an overnight hikers hut on Chombe Plateau in Mount Mulanje. From peaceful Monkey Bay to the popular and pretty Cape Maclear. Then there was Zomba town and plateau, and many stops and faces in between.
You rock, Malawi. Zikomo.
P.S. I received a handful of concerned messages because of the last scene in this vid. Admittedly it was filmed around the time I wrote the post about feelings, but I’m really fine. I included it mostly because I thought it was funny (“when having a bad day, accessorize!!”) and I also wanted to show how, even in the most beautiful of experiences it’s possible to have unpleasant emotions. But thank you for your concern. xo
